They would be so happy for sure.  But that is when each Pac-12 school will get at least $17 million and that number will go up to like $26 million in its final year and that is not counting the money that the PacNets will bring in which could be close to what each school will bring in from ESPN/Fox.

The universities will probably distribute the money elsewhere or else you'd think Cal would have kept enough to keep a guy they seemed to need. Washington has money problems also but it didn't stop them from allowing Sark to get what he needed.

Or doing a $250 million improvement on Husky Stadium.  Every college out west is having problems but it ain't stopping some Pac-12 schools.

Arizona is spending $60 million on their football stadium.
Tempe put in a special tax district to help ASU replace Sun Devil Stadium.
USC just got the master lease to the Coliseum and will be doing massive improvements there.
The Rose Bowl just got new suite boxes.
Utah is building a new operations center for football and is planning on expanding their stadium.
CU is supposed to announce in April a massive improvement for Folsom Field that will cost as much as Husky Stadium.  Folsom Field is going from 53k to 60-65k along with a new $85 million fieldhouse that will double as an indoor practice facility for the football team.

WSU is going to expand their stadium sooner than later.
Oregon State is planning on finishing the other side of their stadium which would push it to 55k.
Duck fans are talking about Autzen getting expanded to 72k.
Cal and Stan already have new stadiums.

Pac-12 is in the middle of a huge arms race right now for sure.

The University of Washington athletic department before they announced the redoing of Husky Stadium were having money issues. So the city of Tempe is helping ASU which won't hur their bottom line. SC got the deed to the Coliseum which now they can put money into it but they didn't lose money in gaining that. I believe the city of LA and state are helping with the improvements plus UCLA probably is kicking in some $$$. Back to the original point as a athletics department is in serious trouble which is spilling over to Tedford's team in that his struggles aren't all on X&O's since monaterially his hands are tied unlike other schools in the Pac12. Yes, you can find a way to get past all of that but at some point losing key guys will hurt. The Bears had a solid recruiting class coming in then poof went away when they lost their best recruiter to UW (who also paid to get a new DC this offseason).

The Pac-12 and CU coaching salaries have long lagged behind the Big 12 for years even when CU was a member of the Big 12.  The end of those days are coming although.  None of the Pac-12 $$$ is going to those improvement projects but they will pay the bills and improve the pay of the coaches.  The money Mike Leach is getting from WSU is a very telling sign of things changing in the Pac-12 when it comes to the pay of the coaches.  CU's coaches are paid significantly more than Hawkins' staff at CU.  I can say for sure the Pac-12 is catching up.

Well salaries are rising all accross the country and your seeing it in the Pac12, Bill Moos Wazzu's AD made price not an option which was followed-up by a solid hire in Leach. He'll do great things in obscurity of the Palluz I can't wait to see it plus he inherits an ok team that just needs to be coached up they brough talent in under Wolff who I thought should have got one more year however at the sametime with Leach on the market you can't pass that up.

I don't disagree about Wulff deserving one more season...I have said on the P12 boards that Leach has more to work with in his first season in Pullman compared to his first year in Lubbock.  I'll be stunned if WSU doesn't go to a bowl game this season.

Completely agree that Wazzu goes bowling this year and they weren't far off last season.

Going back to this thread...since Utah hired Brain Johnson as their offensive coordinator along with a passing game & running game coordinator, I have to wonder if this could eventually spell the end of the Wittingham regime in Salt Lake City.  Very risky hire by Wittingham.

It's risky in the fact that isn't he in his mid-20's? Wittingham should be ok for another season unless he loses big this year or is the AD that ambitious?

He is 25 years old and by comparsion, Major Applewhite was 27 when he was named Rice's OC.

Utah is probably still running on a MWC level budget so that might be behind the decision to promote from within.

The Utes have five road games in the Pac-12 this coming season and then after this season, Cal comes off the schedule for Stanford until 2015.  WSU will be replaced by Oregon for 13-14.  I'm skeptical about Wittingham because the Pac-12 gave Utah an easy schedule and they went 5-4 in conference play.  They didn't show up for the CU game and had to beat WSU in OT.
