If the GOP wants to continue to just say NO they will get taken to task in November. "What have you done to help the people? All you've done is vote NO to maintain status quo."
+1...as someone who grew up in a Republican family, I have to say that the GOP is really a lost party right now. As I went through college and then married someone who really grew up in poverty, that really opened my eyes to the other side (my wife is not liberal) of the issue especially the Dems. Not all Dems are bleeding heart liberals and some of them do support a bigger government. There are good and bad reasons for the government to get bigger. Some of them are with the idea to standardize things such as education, energy, transportation, you name it.
As for the status quo...we have been living with the status quo for so long it has become tiresome...namely healthcare and health insurance. For many years, your health insurance was tied to the job that you had and if you lost your job, you lost your health insurance and although I have not suffered through being unemployed for long periods of time, the thought of having to shell out big bucks and go into bankrupctury due to health issues within yourself or your family is just plain wrong. People who don't have health insurance or don't check on their health like they should end up having shorter lives than people who had health insurance. I am not saying we should necessarily provide for the welfare of the unemployed but some of those people are people who have really put in the effort to go find a job but have been unsucessful in doing so. A lot of people do not know that with unemployment insurance or stuff like that from the government, you have to actually prove to the government that you are putting in the effort to find a job instead of sitting at home playing Facebook games, growing pot in the basement, and all kinds of stupid things.
This country would be much better off if people stopped sucking to the extreme left or extreme right of politics and stood up for what they believe in. At this point, the GOP needs to just move on from the failure to block one of Obama's major policy goals and work on making this a better country.
