Guilt by association is an unworthy tactic that ought to raise suspicions about those who use it rather than those against whom it is used.

You know Blackshirts,  I will let the comments on the bottom of your link speak for itself.  IF you are a moderate, you need to open your eyes.

That was a speech to the press telling them that not everything needs to be public...

I should have stopped reading when I saw the name on the byline.  Once in awhile for comedic relief the World-Herald prints that guy's rants in the op-ed page.  Olbermann thinks Conason is a lib water carrier.

What office do Bill Kristol or Liz Cheney hold where they have the power to destroy careers like McCarthy did?  I bet Conason holds Megan McCain's opinions in high regard.

There was a reason for him doing so.
You may remember that in 1851 the New York Herald Tribune under the sponsorship and publishing of Horace Greeley, employed as its London correspondent an obscure journalist by the name of Karl Marx.
If only this capitalistic New York newspaper had treated him more kindly; if only Marx had remained a foreign correspondent, history might have been different.

The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifl

we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.     Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match.

this nation's foes have openly boasted of acquiring through our newspapers information they would otherwise hire agents to acquire through theft, bribery or espionage;

Perhaps there is no answer to the dilemma faced by a free and open society in a cold and secret war.

And so it is to the printing press--to the recorder of man's deeds, the keeper of his conscience, the courier of his news--that we look for strength and assistance, confident that with your help man will be what he was born to be: free and independent.

I've seen the speech and YES I disagree with him on this issue.  Universal healthcare does not make one a commie, just a socialist.  I didn't see Jfk nationalizing everything, but Barry Soetoro Obozo is.

Where I agree universal healthcare is a socialist program, I believe Jfk had his heart in the right place, he was doing it for the American people.  Since everything Jfk was mostly for the American citizen, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.  Thank GOD it didn't pass. Obozo is NOT for the American citizen.  He has his own agenda, and that is more and more power.  Jfk and Obozo may agree on ONE thing, universal healthcare, but they are the complete opposites.
While Jfk welcomed dissent and questioning, Obozo despises it.  While Jfk realised not every problem can be solved by the federal government or was meant too,  Obozo is narcistic enough to think HE can save the day.  Great, a narcistic commie, just what we need
I thought you said not everything is black and white in the other thread?  Which I agree with.

Yeah, they are SO different.  It's like night and day.  Communism is in NO WAY the next logical step for Socialism.  No way no how is it the real ultimate goal of Socialists.  Sugar-coat your lefty political systems all you want, they are all evil.  (Yes, I said EVIL and that's precisely what I meant).

I'm sorry but I've met plenty of people with "life experience" who are f*cking clueless.  It is an irrelevant thought.  There are 18 year olds with more "life experience" than you will ever have, and to think otherwise is just being ignorant and stubborn.  Each individual has their own ideas about things, regardless of age.  Some have more basis to "talk" than others, but age isn't an automatic qualifier, IMO.

Cowboys needs no advice from you.  I can tell you are intelligent.  Intelligence does not equal common sense or give one the ability to admit something he\she doesn't want to.  I don't need Cowboys for me to look good just like Cowboys doesn't need me.  Blackshirts, an intelligent person, gets it handed to him when he claims he is a moderate constitutionalist while at the same time supporting tyranny.  Blackshirts, Mpalmer, Texas and Mizzou for the most part have been taken to school.

That's cute how you think that "life experience" is the same thing as "age".  Heh.

Why don't you Communists just move to a country where your ideals are already implemented?  Isn't that much easier than uprooting the Libertarians and Conservatives?  Afterall, isn't it all about the welfare of the collective?  (If you don't understand my questions at first, take your time.  It's ok, we will all wait patiently for you to comprehend and reply).

Why don't you just use a pickup truck and float down to Cuba.  Wait.....it is Cubans who use a pickup truck to float to the USA.  Maybe you could have gone to Haiti before the earthquake happened in you pickup truck boat... Wait it was Haitian refugees who came to the USA in pickup truck boats.  On there way, in their pickup truck boats, they bypass the glorious communist paradise of Cuba which is only 53 miles away.  Instead they traveled 523 miles to the USA. Why did they travel 10 times longer in pickup truck boats???????????????????????????   If we lose freedom here, there is nowhere to run to.
