Is it just me or does it always seem like they lump Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Wichita State and Arkansas in the same group depending on the year?

It is a record, now the conference has to have a good showing as I feel the SEC does also

That's nothing. The record to go for is the number of conference teams in the CWS.

well, the record is 4, done by the SEC a couple of times and the ACC once.

I'd like to see 5 SEC teams though....that would be sweet. 99.9% chance that 7 will never happen

Hey, Mike, wanna go out on a limb and tell us who the NCAA thought was the best team and which conference they thought was best?

That's easy, it's the one that gets the most teams to the CWS... the SEC had two there last year BTW...and the team that wins it all is the best.

Yeah what did the SEC send 8 teams last year? Granted one was the runner-up but that team also had a 1-0 lead that couldn't get the deal done. Again the Big XII & SEC need to prove the bids were worth it.

Well Mike. let me enlighten you about exactly who has game in college baseball. Texas has 6 National Championships, a record 32 trips to the CWS and a record 53 entries in the tournament.

I know LSU is good also, but Texas has bought property in Omaha. So go tossing history at me.

Hook Lem Horns!
lol, I can argue a lot of things about UT*, just from a blind homer POV. But even I have to admit that UT is elite when it comes to baseball.

I gotta go throw up now.  :-\

History? We were just there last year. In our coaches second year at the helm. This year, we'll win it all, for our sixth championship. And by far the best winning percentage of any program in the modern era. LSU doesn't just go to Omaha to buy property.

We go to win.

I don't fear any team, anywhere. Not after we used five different winning pitchers and four different closers in the SEC tournament. Yes, you read that right. Five different pitchers earned victories for LSU, one of them a complete game shutout. And every team we beat is in the tournament.

It's our year.

The facts are there, for anyone to see. LSU is second in hitting, and first in ERA and fielding pct. in the SEC. We're the most well-rounded and deepest team going into the tournament IMO.

What's the dimensions on your field. It's called Disch-Falk, correct? I posted LSU's Alex Box Field dimensions before:

Playing Field Distances
- Foul Lines: 330 ft.
- Power Alleys: 365 ft.
- Center: 405 ft.
Height of Fence: 10 ft.
Playing Surface: natural grass

And the stats you posted are only through the 17th. Here's the current ones for the SEC:

w0w those ERA's are high for all those SEC teams, good thing offense wins regionals, super regionals and CWS's. I'd take K-State if they made the super regional against LSU due to the pitching staff the Wildcasts boast. But I know the CCT rebuttle will be LSU doesn't lose at new Alex Box Field because they boxed out all the LSU "Magic" and opened it at the new stadium.

Here's the dimensions for the site of the SEC championship tourney:

Regions Park - Hoover, Ala.
Capacity: 10,800 (Grandstand Seating)
Seating Diagram

Field Dimensions
Foul Lines: 340
Power Alleys: 385
Center: 405
Playing Surface: Natural Grass

I'd appreciate the same info on the Big XII's site.

The ERA's are high because most SEC fields are small. That's why the batting avg's are higher for the SEC vs. the Big XII. LSU, for example, has a .313 avg to .289 for Texas.

Your sure big on ball park demensions CCT not that is isn't a factor but ive seen nothing but bandboxes, kind of my point that SEC schools try to win with offense. LSU and guerilla ball in the '90s helped them win four titles but here in 2000s they haven't won in eight years the teams with pitching and defense have done much better at least after '01 Miami.

LSU hasn't won in eight years because Skip Bertman's succesor, Smoke Laval, was a disaster at head coach.

New coach Paul Mainieri, formerly at Notre Dame, had the Tigers in Omaha in only his second season in Baton Rouge.

Also, this year LSU is getting used to a new ballpark...a hitter's eye was installed after the first few games to help out the batter's. To further complicate matters, LSU has both new pitching and hitting coaches in 2009. LSU's pitching coach last year, Terry Rooney, was named head coach at UCF and took the hitting coach with him.

Again, I would point you to the results of the SEC tournament. Five wins by five different pitchers, all who went at least five innings, and four different closers. One of the pitchers, Bradshaw, pitched a complete game shutout over Georgia. The staff ERA for the six games LSU played in the SEC tournament was 2.34. That's six games in five days, mind you.

Not bad for a for first-year pitching coach David Grewe, who was a GA last year.

I would also point out that LSU got to Omaha last year, and played deep into the CWS, with a much worse pitching staff than it currently has.

Yeah, sometimes the hog gets picked for the championship game based solely on seeding. The rest of us have to win our way there.
