Ah yes, the greatest postseason in all of sports.  If you can't get into playoff hockey, then you have no sports soul.

Bruins over Canadiens in 7- old school rivarly, Boston plays with a little pressure
Capitals over Rangers in 5- Ovechkin steps up in the spotlight, Rangers don't have the guns to keep up
Hurricanes over Devils in 6- Carolina has quietly been one of the better teams over the second half
Flyers over Penguins in 6- Philly is built for the playoffs, they're big and tough with the skill to go with it

Sharks over Ducks in 6- Ducks have been trending in the wrong direction since winning it
Red Wings over Blue Jackets in 4- teams in their first playoff appearance don't typically do to well
St. Louis over Vancouver in 6- St. Louis is hot, worst in the league in January now they're a 6 seed
Chicago over Calgary in 5- Flames have been fading lately, and usually disappoint in the playoffs, bad postseason for Canadian teams

Bruins over Canes in 6- great series here, could be a doozy
Capitals over Flyers in 7- Caps get revenge for last year

Sharks over St Louis is 6- Sharks struggle a little, but too deep for St Louis
Red Wings over Blackhawks in 7- great old school rivalry gets renewed here

Capitals over Bruins in 7- Ovechkin just flat out makes plays, and Washington can score on anybody
Red Wings over Sharks in 6- this is the annual Sharks collapse, Red Wings are poised and experienced

Red Wings over Capitals in 6- rematch of 1998, Wings going for 2nd in a row, Oveckin playing for the Cup, Wings are just too deep though

Go Blackhawks!  NOW!

Gary Bettman agrees with you!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the biggest reason behind hockey's decline IMO is their strongest markets have had terrible teams for decades.  As big a fan as I am of non-traditional hockey markets like Carolina and Atlanta, the NHL needs their biggest cities and their biggest hockey markets to have contending teams.  When Colorado and Arizona played in the NLCS a few years ago, it was the lowest rated NLCS ever.  When the Phillies played the Dodgers last year, it was a ratings bonanza.  Aside from being just a traditional hockey market, the NHL needs their teams in Chicago, and Boston and New York to go deep into the playoffs just because of numbers alone.  So the Wings or Blackhawks need to make the finals, and the Bruins or Rangers need to make it too.

So the SouthLEAST division teams are scrappin' their way back into the series against the big bad tough Atlantic division.  I hate the smug ass northeast teams, I hope they all lose.

I don't like either team, but a Red Wings-Blackhawks western conference finals would be a helluva series.  We're in line for an Original Six matchup in the Cup finals this year, wonder when the last time that happened.

Also, what an ending to the Devils-Hurricanes series!  Down 3-2 in game 7 with less than 90 seconds to go, Carolina scores twice against the winningest goalie of all time to flat out steal that series away from New Jersey.  Talk about snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory!  I can't stand the Devils, or any of their 12 fans, but I wouldn't wish that kind of cruel sports misery on any fan, that was cold blooded!

Even better, the Blackhawks sweeping the Red Wings if it comes down to them.  Because I would rather buy a complete history of Colorado Buffaloes football DVD and watch it all day than even so much as THINK about the Red Wings.  That's how much I hate them :)

But either way, 2nd round baby!  Getting ready for it :)

Uhhhhhhh...The Blackhawks looked extremely sluggish throughout most of the game and were UNBELIEVABLY dominated by Vancouver physically.  Sure the late rush by Chicago was nice, but they can't do that an expect to win games in the playoffs.  Habi's time as a goaltender has to be coming to a close soon.  I love the guy, but his "reaction" and "rebound time" are WAY too slow anymore these days.
