So, second team counts, too?

Yes, 2nd team All Big12 counts.

And what about the OU fans who said D. Murray was the next Adrian Peterson?  Certainly didn't show in 2009...

Marlon Lucky's style was a lot different than AD's due to the nature of the offense they were both in.  In the WCO of NU, they threw to the RB's often rather than hand it off every play.  The pass was like a long hand-off.  Marlon ran well in the open field.

Marlon was a better receiving RB, one of NU's best all-time.

He is also #4 all-time all purpose yards at NU only behind Johnny Rodgers, Mike Rozier, and Ahman Green.

I would say he met expectations.  It wasn't his fault the NU defense couldn't stop anyone.

What was your point?

My point was we all have different perspectives, and that our opinions change with time. Many Nebraska fans talked about Lucky as one of the all-time greats before he ever played a down of college ball. He had a very successful career.

That is to say, that Bryce Brown may do something very similar, and it won't necessarily have been a disappointment.

I think you got your threads mixed up.  I'm not talking about Lucky or Peterson, or perspectives or revisionist history, I'm talking about the divas that are the Brown brothers.  I don't believe either one will come close to matching their hype.

True. But I didn't get banned for arguing with OU fans because I disagreed either. I did get banned for 2 months from the Scout NU board because I told them they were crazy to think that.

BTW, OU fans are also saying Brennen Clay(our RB from CA) is the next AD.

I will continue to stick with the same opinion that I hate comparisons. I hated it when they compared AD to Eric Dickerson. Although their running strides/style were very very similar, it didn't mean AD was Dickerson incarnate.

I once got banned from an OU board for replying to a thread/post (forget which) bashing Lincoln by saying, "coming from someone who lives in NORMAN? LOL."

But I got over it.   8)

Well, I am over it. Making a joke about something doesn't mean I'm harboring ill-will towards them for it. I've been back to that board 3-4x's since.

And as venomous as that board is to outside opinions, that's quite a bit. :)

The best part was when Phil and his sensitive self (soonerfans.com), told me I was being banned because I was a Husker fan, and if I were a Sooner and said something similar, I wouldn't have been banned.

Well, it became funny, at least, when he went to Huskerpedia and complained about how he was being treated over there.

Brown asked out, Dooley says, "Bryce can still go to Kansas State but I'm not releasing him."

"Bryce met with Coach Dooley on Saturday for about 30 minutes and Dooley asked him not to tell anyone they talked," Arthur Brown said. "I'm really not sure why." (That's Arthur Brown Sr.)

Dooley acknowleged he met with Brown on Saturday but said he was not asked for a release.

It happens a lot. No matter where you go. It was just something that flickered through my memory when LM mentioned Lucky.

NO website btw, is worse at banning people than GoPokes.com

You have Sooner in your handle and you're already banned. They seriously have done it without people even posting.

Husker Illustrated banned every member of GoPowercat.com from their public rivals forum. I believe it was their reaction to not liking something that Tim Fitzgerald, of GPC, reported.

Some believe Brown did, in fact, meet in person with coach dooley.

Brown wants to transfer to K-State

Tennessee running back Bryce Brown asked coach Derek Dooley for a release from his scholarship specifically to transfer to Kansas State, Arthur Brown, Bryce's father, said Friday.

But Vols coach Derek Dooley said Friday that he will not release Brown from his scholarship.

"I have a lot of respect for Bryce as a person and a player," Dooley said. "This is a professional decision, not a personal one."

Dooley said he makes decisions on who to release based on three criteria: what was the player's personal investment into the program; what harm the player's departure would cause the program; and how the player handled the situation as a person.

"I have an obligation to protect the program," said Dooley, who has released some players and declined to release others since taking over the Vols. "Bryce can still go to Kansas State but I'm not releasing him."

Arthur Brown acknowleged his son asked Dooley via a text message sent on Tuesday night, after Bryce returned from Knoxville to Wichita, Kan. Arthur Brown said he was disappointed his son did not meet with Dooley this Monday or Tuesday, as he had instructed.

But Arthur Brown said reports that Bryce has not met with Dooley recently are inaccurate.

"Bryce met with Coach Dooley on Saturday for about 30 minutes and Dooley asked him not to tell anyone they talked," Arthur Brown said. "I'm really not sure why."

Dooley acknowleged he met with Brown on Saturday but said he was not asked for a release.

Arthur Brown also said his son, one of the nation's top recruits entering last season, did not ask Dooley for a release at that meeting. This week Dooley said that the reason Bryce has not been released is because he "has not come to me, looked me in the eye and said, 'I want a release.'"

Arthur Brown said that's because he has repeatedly told Dooley since April that he has wanted his son released from his scholarship.

"I've tried to cooperate with Coach Dooley's request not to divulge information in the media," Arthur Brown said. "But I have told Coach Dooley since April, every time we've talked, that we want Bryce taken out of Tennessee. This is our family decision."

Bryce Brown has been criticized for not meeting with Dooley again before leaving Knoxville. Arthur Brown said he purchased an airline ticket for Bryce to return to Knoxville this Thursday but that Dooley texted, "No need to come back out here."

Dooley said that was accurate.

Arthur Brown said that when Bryce texted Dooley to ask for a release, Dooley replied "something like, 'I don't know.'"

Arthur Brown said that he has asked the NCAA for help.

"We can request an appeal and a hearing," he said before the release was denied. "They have to give us a letter rejecting our request for release.

"All we want is a release," he added. "I can't imagine any reason why they shouldn't. I once asked Coach [Lane] Kiffin [who signed Brown], 'If Bryce decided he wanted to leave, would you release him?' And he said, 'Yes, I'd do that.

So he's officially trying to go to KSU.

KSU has been picking up some former big-time players as transfers.

No angle.  Chris Harper, Brown brothers, probably missing one.

I hope KSU gets Brown, and he lives up to expectations.  Anything to strengthen the former Big 8 teams is good in my book.

Broderick Smith transferred last year from Minnesota.

It sounds like the 'Cats are working hard to get Jeremiah Masoli for 2010.

I hope the part about Masoli is a joke.  He is a thug.  Any player who actually gets suspended at OREGON is a problem child, to say the least.

The negative media attention alone wouldn't be worth it.

No joke. The addition of a top threat at QB to an otherwise potent offense will add wins, and will be worth it. Masoli has gotten in trouble.

It's not worth it.  Wins are not worth selling your soul ever.  The kid was ran out of town at OREGON, a program run by Belloti.  How many Oregon players get ran out of town?  Not many.

I'll take him, and the wins that come with him.

Really? Don't get me wrong I think Clay has all the tools to be a great running back but I think Roy Finch might be a bit better. That should be an epic battle for the starting roll next year.
