Lady Huskers and Horns make the trip to Omaha
« on: December 14, 2008, 07:13:11 AM »
Both teams have tough games in the Final Four, UT vs Stanford and Lady Huskers vs Penn St., but here's to hoping that it is an all Big 12 finals.

Should be a great Final Four in Omaha, the Nittany Lions have been solid all year. But I'd love to see a Nebraska-Penn State tilt.

Can't happen since the Lady Huskers play Penn State in the semis.

Touche, than I'll be fine with upsetting PSU and playing Texa$ in the title game. I believe Nebraska is unbeaten all-time at QCO.

LOL at referring to NU as "the other Big12 team."

When's the last time UT's volleyball squad won the national championship?

Yeh, what's Nebraska's record agaimst Texas this year?  :knuppel2:

Both teams won on their home courts this year.

   Sat, Sep 20        Texas *       NU Coliseum         3 - 1 (W)

  Wed, Nov 19        Texas *       at Austin, Texas    1 - 3 (L)

So there goes that argument.   ;)

Typical arrogance form Longhorn fans, which is why NO ONE feels sorry for McCoy not getting the Heisman or UT not playing for the Big12/BCS title.

Go ahead, celebrate being 1-1 against the Lady Huskers this year.  It's quite flattering to our ladies, I'm sure.

If NU and UT face off in the Championship game, NU will have no doubt played the tougher slate to get there.

Beating Washington at Washington and then beating the #1 undefeated PSU (we will see).

The NU vs UT game was a fluke just as it was against CU.  I'm not being arrogant.  That was NU's worst game all season and not because of anything UT did.  UT is gonna have to get better if they are going to beat NU if they face off.

That 2nd quote says it all.  NU played poorly

Quote
We had 33 attack errors and you are not going to beat anybody making that many errors.

Every team has a bad night once in awhile.  That's all.

We'll just have to hope our teams meet in the Championship game.  I think NU will like that matchup if they can get past PSU.

Nice work!

However, I don't believe the stats will matter in the championship game if these two teams meet.

Perhaps the Lady Horns can win a National Title.  When's the last time they accomplished that?

Texas has National Championships in 1981 & 1988, numerous Final Fours, 24 trips to post season play in 28 possible years, and many conference championships including Big 12 in 1997, 2007 & 2008.

How does Nebraska's record compare?

It's better.

In that time? '95, '00, '06 national champs runners up in '86 '89 '98 and final fours in '01 '90 and '96 and have been in every tourney since '82 it started in '81 so that is 26 out of 27

and if you want to talk Big 8/12 champs every year from 78-'08 except for 97, '03, sharing the last two with Texas, want to talk some more?

In all honesty this is all down to 3 teams Nebraska Texas and Penn State, Stanford is the b*tch right now for lack of better words and all 3 of the others have done nothing but earn their right to be where they are, good luck to all.

That was an odd place to throw a rhetorical question.  Usually you use a rhetorical question when you are trying to show up someone.  Not to someone who is better than the point you are trying to make.

I don't really hate Texas, I'm just a Big 8 loyalist.  When Texas got their way in the formation of the Big 12 coming from a weaker SWC at the time (I don't want a lecture about history of the SWC) that was alarming.  And since then, if Texas doesn't get their way, they whine, complain, politic, etc.

This conference has been handed to Texas.  They have the most money, the largest enrollment, in the largest city, the nicest weather, etc.  You would expect them to win in everything.  But despite all that, NU has still carried the banner for the conference in volleyball.  KU for basketball. OU for football.  Go Big 8!

How was my comment arrogent? I just said I'd like a All-Big XII final if Nebraska got by Penn State, and the fact is Nebraska is perfect all time at Qwest Center Omaha.

Stanford beats Texa$ in a great five set match, but Texa$ was leading two games to none and became the first team ever in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament to lose when having a 2-0 advantage. Next is Nebraska-Penn State, there hasn't ever been a rematch from the previous year title game in women's volleyball FYI.

If huskers pull it out they will be the 2nd team to beat a team being down 0-2
