I'm talking mainly about people under 30, especially college kids.  People who bought all the lefty drivel from their college professors hook, line, and sinker.  People who use the word "like" as a conversational placeholder.  The folks who think Iwo Jima is the name of a sushi bar.  People who value symbolism over substance.  You know, the type of that appears on shows such as "Road Rules" or "Big Brother".  It's my generic term for non-thinking tool bags.

I think it's pretty clear that Obama won because he took control in every demographic.  He had a 4-5% lead in every age bracket except for senior citizens.  The states McCain won aren't very populated states, and the ones that Republicans need to win the election were pretty heavily in favor of McCain, ie Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and he did miserable in those states.  They talked about it during the CNN broadcast, McCain did not do well in suburban areas that are typically white, middle class voters.  Republican candidates need to dominate those areas, and he didn't.

Oh yes...them college kids...another name for them would be FOOLS.  I was viewed as right wing extremist in college because I didn't support many of the things that they did.

Yeah. College kids are stupid. We are all dumb, ignorant, witless bums who aren't worthy of voting or having any say. Let's ignore the fact that nearly every person in congress (probably state level too) has a college degree. I just think we should raise the voting age to 35 because its impossible to be informed or understand anything politically before that age.

I'm not sure why the under 30 demographic gets a vote either.  Personally, I think it's a bad idea to let the people that actually have to live the consequences of our decision have a vote in the matter.  We should just leave it to the over 60 crowd who'll probably be in a nursing home by the time the next president leaves office.   ::) ::)

They don't offer reading comprehension courses at universities anymore, I take it.

When we were first a country, only landholders and business owners had the right to vote.  I believe that is one reason our democracy lasted longer than the predicted 200 years.  If you look at when the common man as able to vote, we are beginning to push the 200 year life expectancy for democracy.

I think every voter should have to pass a basic quiz in English before they are allowed the chance to vote.  It's worse to have an uneducated vote than a non-vote.

That's the truth.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea but I do base my decisions on who to support/vote for on how the canadiate's economic policies would affect the country.  I just thought Obama's economcy plan was better for small business owners but you can feel free to rub it in my face if it turns out to be the opposite.

Small businesses are easy targets.  When Obama realizes there isn't enough money to fund his programs, he has to take it from somewhere.  It's pretty much a forgone conclusion from small business owners that he's going to go after them.  After all, small business owners are probably the least represented.

I never believed Obama, so it was another reason I couldn't support him.  The numbers just never added up correctly.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Alright lets be proud as a country that we as a country that the world didn't think we would do, elect an African-American President of the United States. This is historic stuff whether you are for or against President-Elect Obama this is a great accomplishment by this country from where as a nation we have been. Keys to this victory were that as maybe you heard Obama is a 21st century candidate. He targeted the internet, appealed to young voters who hadn't registered or were for the first time yesterday. I despise Dr. Howard Dean but him and Barack Obama's grassroots level campaign got many people involved which was a difference. Mass appeal look at all the different people in Red and Blue "State" Obama got to vote for him, because of how he talks and makes you believe that hey we'll be alright. Whether you believe that or not its up to you plus we'll see if it comes true. McCain and Obama both gave great speeches granted one was for winning the other for losing but they both were to the point. It was smart from what I thought in his victory speech to say some things that seem to have lowered the bar for his first term as President. So lets see if the promises or a bipartisan cabinet come true and Obama truly starts over like his people said last night or if its more of the same. I hate to be cynical but the democrats have a ton to lose here if they don't make some kind of impact in the next four years.

Best post of this thread!  +infinity!

We proved the world wrong in this case.  Will the world have new respect for us?  Yes for the time being before they realize that we are still America and can be just hated because we are just Americans.

I despise Howard Dean as well and I thought that the DNC shot themselves in the foot in the 2004 elections when he was named the leader of the DNC.  I don't know if Dean is still the DNC Chairman or not.  Obama is closer to the middle than Dean is so it's a good thing we didn't elect Dean back in 2004.

The Dems got their shot...now it's time to lead this country.  They will have no one but themselves to blame if things go from bad to worse.  They should look at past history to see what happened under Carter and it took them quite sometime to have that oppournity again.

After the Great Depression, the Republicans only had control of Congress twice between that and the mid 1990's.  I guess our grandparents and great grandparents didn't want to trust the Republicans who were mostly responsible for the Great Depression.

Based on that, I guess we will have another long run of Democracts in Congress.  I sure hope that one party's presidental canadiate is the real deal in 2012.  That might not be Sarah Palin.

If the Democrats don't do something in a hurry, they'll start to lose seats in the next couple years.  The congress approval rating is between 9-15%.  The media won't be their friends for long, and they'll turn against them as they always do.

I just hope Obama does a good job and is able to run the Oval office independent from the Pelosi-led house and Reid-led Senate.  If Obama can stand up to each of them when it's called for, then I will gain a lot of respect for him.

Maybe I'm too young because I didn't grow up in the civil rights movement, but it never really mattered and still doesn't matter to me that he was black.  He could have been an albino, and I still would have felt the same.

According to Obama's website he is going to save me a certain amount of money on my taxes.  I will be watching to see if I receive that number in any of his 4 years.

Here's a prime example of Obamunists in action:
