Election Night 08
« on: October 28, 2008, 05:25:16 AM »
Just felt like with only a week to go we should get this thread started.  All signs point to an Obama victory at this point, but polls are hard to really trust--the last two elections have taught us that much.

Just any add last real thoughts that aren't covered in other threads, otherwise, lets keep this thread civil and based around next Tuesday.

I will most likely be joining JJ at his place for a night of fun and celebration of OBIDEN 08!!

Wow, you are actually going to celebrate the election of a Marxist.  Amazing.

To one side, it would be a signal that we should ditch work and bow down to Obama.  To one other side, it is to make every vote count.  Perhaps Obama is trying to make this a resounding win.

Speaking of resounding wins, it sure has been sometime since we had a decisive election and it very well could happen this year.

I want to add one more thing...

Remember how I questioned Obama's readiness to be our Commander in Chief months ago?  It hasn't gone unnoticed by me that Obama didn't really lose his cool or temper when he was attacked endlessly by those negative McCain ads.  As for McCain, I have heard about his temper and I have seen it on TV...you have to ask yourself the question...Do you want your president to be more level headed?  Given that plus the endorsement of Colin Powel, a respected general, it seems like Obama can lead our country.  My concerns are not as great as they were months ago.

I voted last week so now I just want it to come and end.

Biden took some tough questions from a news station in Orlando.  After the interview he banned any further interviews with that station.  Is this a sign of things to come in an Obama/Biden Administration?  I am seeing many similarities between the Obama campaign and the Bush Campaigns.  If you go back and look at the 2000 election, you would think Obama and Bush were the same person saying the same things about change.

Cowboys is right.  If you listen to some quotes by Obama, you can find almost the same things said by Karl Marx.

My hope right now is that Huckabee (monetarily) is in a good position to run against Obama in 2012.

FWIW.  Sales at gun stores are at a sharp increase with more assault rifles being bought at an alarming rate.  Buy your guns now while they're hot!

Voted last Friday, for Obama, and can't wait for this election to be over. Not convinced it will be a blow-out, but I believe Obama-Biden will win.

There is talk of Palin running in 2012...gawd I hope not.

I have no disagreement with that.  McCain is FAR too liberal, but he's way better than an unapologetic socialist.

Bush is really the one responsible for Obama winning this election.  People (in general) are so anti-Bush right now that they are willing to vote for socialism.

And while Obama is much more eloquent of a speaker than Bush, I see his administration being similar but swung in the other direction.  With a Democratic House and Senate, there will be no check and balances.  If you put your trust in their agenda, you're much more trusting than I am.

Why should I trust McCain?  He's not near as level-headed as evidenced by the debates, and his policies are quite similar to what Bush has enacted the last 8 years.

Many thought McCain should have took it to Obama a little harder.  For a guy that's supposedly quick to loose his temper, I thought he held it pretty well.

Ok, maybe I can put my thoughts in another football analogy.  When Callahan came to NU preaching about change and who was smooth with the media, did you fall for it?  I did.  Did he deliver?  What NU lacked was passion and the love for the program by the coach.  We had a coach when there was any success he patted his back.  When there was any problems, it was still transitioning from the old system.

I just don't trust what Obama is saying, and I don't feel he is qualified to be the commander in chief.

From the words of Bush:
Quote
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —President George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

Using a football analogy for our countrys future is dumb. Its football. And that quote is one of my favorites. It sums up the idiocy that is George W Bush.

What are you reasons for voting for Obama then?

I'm not saying you are one of them but here are people that are voting Obama just because he's the furthest thing from Bush.  Now that is dumb.

If Obama wins, I sincerely hope he does what is best for the country.  I hope I am proven wrong.

I warned people about Bush and still these swing voters still miraculously voted him in.  Again, I hope I'm wrong this time, but the writing is on the wall.

I am voting for him because I align myself with his views more than McCain.  I like his health care plan, his energy plan, his Iraq War plan, among others.  I was against going to war from the beginning, mainly due to the extreme cost especially considering so many of the things going wrong within our borders, so that is a pretty important one for me.

I was supporting McCain until the economcy tanked.  At that time, I decided to take a much closer look at Obama's plans and the plans that I like about Obama are issues with healthcare, taxes especially for small businesses, helping our automakers switch to more energy efficent cars, and our energy issues.

I do have to say that Obama has a very user friendly, interactive website.  One of the best I've visited.

I noticed that Obama plans to work with Mexico to help them promote economic development to prevent illegal immigration.  That sounds great, but the Mexican is a socialist government and does oppress the people.  I would like to see how Obama intends to do this.  We already have a large portion of our money being sent there illegally, so it's not like it will cost that much more if it slows illegal immigration.

If it means broadening free trade and taking steps toward forming an American Union, then watch out for it.

I voted three weeks ago now by sending in my absentee ballot. I almost decided on not picking a Presidental canidate because I hate that only Palin has experience in governing. The choices were watered down this cycle that being said I voted for Obama because I want to see if he can prove that we will make all the "Change" occur while President. If it was McCain 2000 it would have been a no doubter but McCain 2008 no dice for me.

Remember kids, an 18 year-old Conservative has no heart.

Obama/Reid/Peloisi's first piece of legislation:

Employee Free Choice Act: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122506674992670591.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

Welcome to the East Coast Liberal Agenda and Corruption: http://www.fraudfactor.com/ffunionfraudintro.html

Quote
Another cause of long-term unemployment is unionization. High union wages that exceed the competitive market rate are likely to cause job losses in the unionized sector of the economy. Also, those who lose high-wage union jobs are often reluctant to accept alternative low-wage employment. Between 1970 and 1985, for example, a state with a 20 percent unionization rate, approximately the average for the fifty states and the District of Columbia, experienced an unemployment rate that was 1.2 percentage points higher than that of a hypothetical state that had no unions. To put this in perspective, 1.2 percentage points is about 60 percent of the increase in normal unemployment between 1970 and 1985.

The country is going to have high unemployment anyway and these goons are going to payback the huge contributions received from the unions with this piece of... expect the worst.

"real change" - ha!!

real change is most effective when the majority of the country opts NOT to vote.  then and only then will a clear message be sent.....it tells the political machine "we ain't buying what you're selliin'."

outside of that, presidential voting this year is for SUCKERS.

I really, really hate the idea of having either of these candidates lead our country.  They both suck.  I'm seriously thinking about leaving that column blank on my ballot.  Neither candidate is the answer.  I will be voting Republican in Georgia's senate and house races though, we need to keep some kind of checks and balances on the Pelosi/Frank regime.  Let's not fool ourselves, that's who is really going to be in charge the next four or eight years.
