Big 12 Tournament
« on: March 05, 2011, 10:31:04 PM »
1. Kansas
2. Texas
3. Texas A&M
4. Kansas State

The next four are very much up in the air, depending on the last few games of the season.
The bottom four are nearly solidified  with OSU, Tech, OU, and ISU.

If the games go according to the seeding, the Jayhawks could have a couple of revenge games coming up against KSU and UT.

I think the Big 12 is the only major conference not having at least the semi-finals of it's tournament nationally televised.    I hope Dan Bebee delivers on his promise of a great fututre network deal.

Here is a list of gifts given to the players participating in tournament conferences.     LOL at the PAC 10 giving a bottle of Dr. Pepper and some snacks.

The Pacific-12 schools, like CU, are known to be more outdoorsy and the gift fits that idea.  They could have put in an electronic GPS to guide them to the NCAA Final Four. :D

I watched the NU/oSu game this morning. Crazy finish. When I mumbled, "We will get slaughtered tomorrow," my daughter said, "That's a heck of a pep talk, Mom!"  lol

KU/oSu in the morning.......I'll probably watch anyway. hehe

Bill Self has a soft spot in his heart for OSU.    Even so, I'd expect tomorrow's game to be over at halftime.

That last play was Nebraska's season in 10 seconds, started out ok, went a little iffy, then looked really good then tripped and fell flat on our face.

Will Nebraska and Colorado be the first two to LEAVE the Big 12?

Two exciting games, early.

Third game has been opened wide up by the Sooners.

CU is still in KC.  I'm sure you would love to see KSU beat CU since that didn't happen in football and CU swept the kitties in MBB.

I think it will be fair if the top 6 Big12 teams make it to the NCAA:

TEAM               CONF W-L     TOTAL W-L
#2 Kansas            14-2         29-2
#10 Texas            13-3         25-6
#21 Texas A&M        10-6         23-7
#23 Kansas State     10-6         22-9
Missouri              8-8         22-9
Colorado              8-8         20-12

Mizzou is trailing against TT...maybe the #7 B12 team can go in place of them.

As a conference, B12 deserves 6 bids.

Baylor and Nebraska each had their bubble burst yesterday. I think that takes some pressure off of Colorado, today. Colorado is currently in, though a win would solidify their bid.

Menu for today's games (Central time)

KU vs OSU 11:30 a.m.
KSU vs CU 2:00 p.m.
UT vs OU 6:00 p.m.
A&M vs MU 8:30 p.m.

One thing of note on the CU notes for the CU-KSU game is that both schools are tied for 16 wins against each other during Big 12 play starting back in 1996.

Man, I was way wrong on this one.   I didn't see any of the game but from everything I hear, KU didn't deserve to win this game.

Marcus Morris really is POY. I can't imagine how a big guy plays in a game as physical as this one apparently was (Pilgrim 5, Moses 5, Markieff 5) and gets zero fouls. He really must be that much better than every other post player on the floor.

I still haven't seen the game.   I'll watch it when I get home.   But as is often the case, teams continuously foul KU's big men because we are a terrible free throw shooting team.

I haven't seen it either. I think it's one of two things. Morris was the far superior player and didn't need to foul, or just wasn't called...or a combination of the two.

CU is not ready to load the moving vans for the big move west to the Pac-12 just yet.  Buffs beat KSU for the third time this year.  Football and three MBB wins over KSU...AWESOME!

CU is 17-16 versus KSU in the Big 12.  :P

Nice win, Buffs.... Burks and Higgins each lead the team for one half.

Congrats on the win for sure.  You guys really have our number this year.  Good luck in the NCAAs.

P.S.  Nice selective stats bone...pretty convenient that they all come from the worst basketball years in KSU history.  I think 96-44 paints the more realistic picture of this series.  Again, not to take away from what the Buffs were able to do to State this season (this is NOT one of those terrible KSU teams of the 90's by any stretch).
