Depth wise the B1G has that over the BigXII but in terms of top teams no doubt Kansas, Mizzou and Baylor no doubt. But Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota etc your facing teams that will beat you nightly. Iowa State through has been a nice surprise in the BigXII.

Even at that, in my opinion (and its just an opinion) playing 18 games in the Big XII is a lot tougher than playing 16 in the  B1G.

Maybe, but unless its a 18-game schedule like they play in the MVC (ex. Creighton played conference games last Weds, Fri and Sun plus last night over nine days) I don't think its terrible. Again, no knock to the BigXII its top heavy where the B1G in my opinion (like you said mine alone) is deeper. Before we get into a shouting match each conference grind is its own.

Other than the fact that the B1G plays an 18-game conference schedule, I see your point  ;)

Part of the issue has been that the Big Ten has more post players that are so good. The Big 12 didn't seem to have as much of a post presence while Nebraska was there. Maybe it has changed this year, I don't know, I haven't been paying attention. I just remember so many really good guards in that league.

I'd say the Big 12 is more top heavy than the Big Ten is, but the Big Ten is a deeper league this year. I've seen projections with NINE teams in the tournament. That's insane!

I stand corrected.   I just figured with 12 teams they follow the same format that the Big XII used to follow.

No, they don't. It's very frustrating. I can't remember who we play twice and who we play only once because it isn't based on the football divisions.

I guess I didn't realize the B1G was playing 18 conference games either and that just seems odd (and grueling) but I guess what doesn't kill you will make you stronger in March. Here is who Nebrasketball plays twice and only sees once,

2X - Wisconsin (L/@L), Ohio State (@L/Tonight in Lincoln), Illinois (@L/2-18 Lincoln), Penn State (W/@2-18), Iowa (@1-26/2-29 Lincoln), Michigan State (L/@2-25), Minnesota (2-5 Lincoln/@3-3),

1X - Indiana (W), @Northwestern (2-2), Michigan (2-8), @Purdue (2-22)

Again the B1G is deeper than the BigXII (I'll do a my league is better than yours if its desired) which is top heavy.

Oh, I think both are fantastic leagues. I think the B1G is just deeper this year, which makes those "winnable" games hard to actually win. It hasn't helped that Nebraska has only played 1 team in the bottom half of the standings through their first 7, with #6 team in the country tonight. They should rack up more wins in the back half of the schedule.

Agreed both are good leagues and the BigXII might send more teams to the Final Four (waaaaaaaay off) but depth wise the B1G is deeper. MP, I agree that Nebrasketball can get to a 8-10 or 7-11 but the end of the year or perhaps better.

This is exactly true. It's a little like the Big 12 and SEC on football this past season. It's tough when you don't have some bottom-feeders that you can just count on beating, regardless of location.

Most definitely. While it would help if we were better, there isn't a team in this league that can count on a win against anyone else (except Ohio State against a few teams). Generally that is true in any league, but it is 100% gospel in the B1G this year. Everyone already has at least 2 conference losses through 8 games.

As for the Huskers, I think we are watching the Doc Sadler farewell tour, and I can't say I'm sad about it.  I expect us to grab 3-4 more wins along the way, but that would put us around 13-14 wins for the season, which is unacceptable in Year 6.

Here is something that has bothered me is that when the state of Nebraska actually does produce good basketball players it seems like they've been ignored by Sadler. Say what you will about Collier but at least he got in-state kids to choose NU over Creighton and other out-of-state locations. Look at Colorado State's roster they're littered with Nebraska kids.

Huskers get their first ever Big Ten road win at Iowa. They stand at 11-9 (3-6) on the season with many more winnable games to go.

Nebraska loses at Northwestern (again, not as unexpected) by ten as the Wildcats killed the Huskers the the three-point shot.

Huskers lose at home to Minnesota by 8. Drop to 11-11 and 3-8 on the season. I'm extremely hopeful we are watching the last few games of the Doc Sadler era.

Well Nebraska trailed 22-15 at the half to Michigan and didn't break 20 points until there was 12:24 left in the game. The Michigan zone was perfect against Nebrasketball tonight, so is anyone thinking Doc might not acompany the team to Indy?

Nebrasketball fans I speak of want Brad Stevens who isn't coming to Lincoln even with the facility improvements. Another name is Dana Altman of Oregon which I also don't see happening. The Huskers need someone who will keep the best in-state talent here but also develop guys because Doc has tried it all with foreign players, JUCO's and walkons. The local show Shick&Nick had Erick Strickland on yesterday which was a good listen yesteday.

Brad Stevens would be a steal.

I am wondering if Pearl would be worth the baggage

If Pearl is cleared of any wrong doing by the NCAA (if he was in the first place) then I think its the risk you take from this standpoint. Nebraska tends to go with the safe hire after Danny Nee in Barry Collier and Doc Sadler both who were at midmajors (Butler/UTEP). Frank Martin is generally said as a risky hire and look at his success I'd have no problem with them seeing about Bruce Pearl. But Osborne isn't going to pay 4-5 million for Brad Stevens if just isn't going to happen.

Ouch Huskers...sounds like you are having a rough season in the B1G...much like the Buffs in Pac-12 football.  It'll get better.
