Best 8 million dollar bargin even and not even close, another thing that went against the city of Cleveland since he really wanted to buy the Indians.

He was an awesome owner for the Yankees...spending to win championships...I don't think many owners have that kind of desire to spend the money to win championships.  If this man is not in Cooperstown, he needs to be put in RIGHT AWAY!  With the Yankees being as hated as they are, they at least kept baseball interesting and that scores style points in my book.

As a die hard Yankee hater, I have no problem admitting he was one the two or three best owners in any sport over the last 40 years.  Granted, he owned a team in New York where his job was half done for him, but all the other owners of the pro sports teams in New York couldn't match his success so he was doing something right.  One could argue that he is just as responsible for baseball's resurgence in popularity since the '94 strike as ANY player.  The McGwire/Sosa home run chase, Cal Ripken, you can name anyone you want but nobody made you care about baseball the way he did.
