Good news for Sadler's successor.  No truth to rumors men's BB is banished to Pershing in the meantime.  :o

It's not a big deal to him, if he never coaches there.

Sounds like someone knows they won't be around for the ribbon cutting.

I believe this does solidify NU's Big 11 candiacy even further.

I'd be surprised if Doc was coach in 2013 and his roster can't hack it if they moved to the Big11Ten. But the larger question is are there 16,000 Nebrasketball fans?

Of course there are.... Just win, and you'll see 'em pack the place. Fans are fans, and they support winners.

And then there's Haymarket Park...

When Husker baseball is winning that yard is packed.

I know.  I was just backing up Lynch's point. Reserved tix for Haymarket used to be hard as hell to get.

Things just got harder for Doc, or the excuses are drying up since his roster will be older, practice facility going up and now this. Got to think Yori's team will be filling the place not sure about the men.

A new practice facility, and a new venue will take away the excuses for any coach. If women's basketball regularly fills 16K you've got something amazing on your hands. I think if you get over 6K consistently, that's very successful. I once attended a sold-out women's game for the WNIT Championship.

If Yori is still there and can get them averaging 8-10K I think that be great

Yes it will, it will be called the Breslow center.  Also the arena itself will be able to hold an Olympic sized rink.

Nebraska has one of the top club teams in the nation that has went toe to toe with North Dakota in the past.  Also Lincoln has a built in Hockey fan base with a large following for the semi-pro Lincoln Stars.  Those three things lead me to believe that within the next 10 years you could see Nebraska Cornhusker Hockey taking the ice.

CU's club hockey team did win a D3 hockey title recently.  Maybe the CU-NU rivalry will live on in hockey some day although both football teams reside in different conferences.

I believe NU's move to the Big Ten will eventually land a hockey team for NU.  Just imagine Cornhusker hockey versus Maverick hockey at Qwest in Omaha...maybe they will have to hold that event at Memorial Stadium as part of an outdoor special.

Any word about women's hockey as well?

Actually the talk is hotter on womens than mens because the thought is NU doesn't want to impede on the Mav's, which I think is bunk

You got to be kidding me...I'd say Husker hockey would take the state by storm.

One reason why CU hasn't done hockey when you don't consider the startup costs and expenses is that Colorado already has two to three good hockey programs in the state already plus there are two minor league hockey teams within driving distance plus you got the Avs as well.

Just imagine the passion between Buff and Husker hockey...could it be Avs-Red Wings II?  :knuppel2:

That is the drawing of the Breslow Center, it will be a part of the complex but not the arena itself.  The arena will sit behind the post office and this will be behind the old train station from what I understand.

How many seats would the Breslow Center have?

Was this decided to be built instead of connecting a convention center? Either way looks like a good thing for a city with not many sheets of ice in it.

This has been in the plans pretty much the whole time, however this isn't part of the bond, it will be the U's through donations
